Church of Sassoguidano

The church - consecrated to the conversion of St. Paul - was built on the brink of the cliff overlooking the Panaro valley. It has an asymmetrical gable façade. The engraving on the peculiar triangular stone over the gate is still partially legible.

The inside features a gorgeous Baroque wooden altar, a copy of a valuable 13th-century icon of St. Mary (the original is located in the church of St. Bartholomew in Pavullo nel Frignano), the cusp of the baptismal font, and a simple furniture. The silence of the place encourages meditation and prayer. The Holy Mass is celebrated on 5th August, the day of Our Lady of the Snows; on the following Sunday, religious celebrations and culinary stands mark the recurrence.
